Nariño health authorities warn against illegal aesthetic clinics
Health authorities in the Nariño department have issued a warning against using illegal or clandestine aesthetic clinics for invasive procedures, such as plastic surgery or injectable applications. Ana Belén Arteaga, director of the Instituto Departamental de Salud de Nariño (Idsn), stated that these unauthorized establishments, often operating out of private homes or garages, pose severe risks to patient lives.
Potential complications from unregulated procedures include infections, anesthesia overdoses, bleeding, and thromboembolism. To ensure safety and quality, officials urge citizens to only seek services from institutions officially registered in the Reps and with professionals accredited in the Rethus. Authorized institutions are required to have competent personnel, adequate infrastructure, and authorized biomedical equipment to minimize medical risks.
