Nariño launches 21 Water Defender Clubs for environmental education

The Nariño Departmental Water Plan (PDA Nariño) is strengthening environmental education through the creation of 21 Water Defender Clubs across 13 educational institutions in the department. This initiative, part of the Ministry of Housing, City and Territory’s Water Culture Program, aims to involve 210 students in protecting water sources and micro-basins.

The strategy focuses on teaching responsible water use, natural resource protection, and climate change awareness. Students will act as promoters of water conservation within their schools and local communities. The project is scheduled to complete the formation of all 21 clubs by December 31, 2026, with each club consisting of ten students dedicated to environmental education and micro-basin protection.
