Nariño provides aid to families affected by northern wildfires

In the department of Nariño, Colombia, the “Nariño Responde” initiative, led by Governor Luis Alfonso Escobar Jaramillo, is providing aid to families affected by vegetation fires in the northern region. The first phase of the program has reached 50 families who suffered losses in crops, livestock, and livelihoods.

Supplies including food, clothing, blankets, and essential agricultural tools have been distributed to help farmers recover their productive activities. In areas such as Vereda Reyes, fires have destroyed coffee, sugarcane, cassava, and plantain crops, as well as livestock. Local leaders have emphasized the importance of these tools to help communities rebuild from the ashes, while also requesting continued institutional presence to address ongoing needs.
