Narni: Unauthorized tree pruning on private property triggers legal complaint

A legal complaint has been filed with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Terni following the unauthorized and drastic pruning of two large poplar trees in Narni, Italy. The trees are located on private property belonging to Professor Alvaro Caponi and the Società Agricola Le Mole, along the banks of the Nera river.

The intervention involved the removal of significant portions of the crowns and branches, which the owners describe as an “environmental scourge” that disrupts the riparian vegetation and could impact soil stability in an area already prone to erosion. The owners stated they received no prior notification or authorization for the work.

While the identity of those responsible remains unknown, the owners have sent a letter to Enel, suggesting the work might have been intended for electrical line maintenance. They are seeking to identify the decision-makers, the executors, and the technical basis for the pruning methods used. Legal counsel Antonio De Angelis has indicated that the owners reserve the right to seek compensation for damages to the trees, the land, and the surrounding vegetation.
