NARSA clarifies Morocco vehicle license plate replacement rules

The National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) has issued a clarification regarding the replacement of vehicle license plates in Morocco, stating that reports of a mandatory nationwide replacement by December 31, 2026, are incorrect.

According to Decision No. 640.26, the requirement for replacement depends on the specific circumstances of each vehicle. For standard series plates that do not include Latin characters, the current plates remain valid until the vehicle undergoes its first transfer of ownership.

However, plates designed for international travel—which feature Latin characters and the 'MA' country code—will remain valid until December 31, 2026. NARSA has urged road users to rely solely on official sources to avoid confusion regarding these transitional regulations.
