Naruto live-action film leaks reveal major character and plot changes
Leaked details regarding the upcoming Lionsgate live-action ‘Naruto’ film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, have sparked significant debate among fans. Reports suggest the movie will adapt the ‘Land of Waves’ arc, potentially titled ‘Naruto: Mission to the Land of Waves’.
According to leaks, the film will introduce several narrative changes to the original manga by Masashi Kishimoto. Sakura Haruno is reportedly depicted as a more powerful character from the start, hailing from a wealthy family. The romantic dynamics between the main trio are also expected to shift; Sasuke is said to have feelings for Sakura, while Naruto will not have a romantic interest in her and will instead be characterized as a student of ninja history.
A major structural change involves the concept of Jinchuriki. Rather than being a general occurrence, the ability to host a Tailed Beast will reportedly be determined by specific bloodlines, such as the Uzumaki clan, which would explain why Naruto was a viable host for Kurama.
Production is expected to begin in the United Kingdom in early 2027, with the film targeting a PG-13 rating and featuring a tone similar to Marvel films.
