Nas Campanella discusses her role as ABC disability affairs reporter

Nas Campanella, the ABC’s national disability affairs reporter and the first blind newsreader to operate a studio during live broadcasts, discussed her role and experiences in a recent interview. Campanella, who also co-authored the accessible children’s book ‘All the Ways I See’, noted that her position was established following the Disability Royal Commission.

Reflecting on social progress in Australia, Campanella shared observations on disability awareness, particularly among children. She emphasized the importance of parents having educated conversations with their children about disability, noting that she welcomes questions from children as a way to foster communication and understanding rather than teaching them to look away.
