NASA and private firms advance Earth observation integration

NASA is utilizing strategic integration to manage its Earth-observing satellite missions. Through the NASA Earth Science Strategic Integration Environment (NESSIE) team at the Langley Research Center, the agency works to anticipate potential data gaps caused by mission delays or on-orbit events. This planning helps senior leadership maintain continuous records of planetary features such as sea levels, aerosols, and cloud cover.

In the private sector, Phi Earth Technologies and the Australian company LatConnect 60 have formed a strategic partnership to integrate satellite Earth Observation with ground-level field intelligence. The collaboration aims to support nature-based projects by combining satellite data with Phi Earth’s digital Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (dMRV) platform. This integration is intended to create a continuous feedback loop and an Earth Observation-enabled Digital Twin to improve environmental reporting and operational decision-making.
