NASA and SpaceX schedule Crew-13 launch for October 1

NASA and SpaceX have rescheduled the Crew-13 mission to launch on October 1 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The mission was previously delayed in late August following the detection of an oxidizer leak in the Dragon spacecraft's propulsion system. Technicians have since replaced the faulty valve.

The Crew-13 team, which will join Expedition 75 on the International Space Station, includes commander Jessica Watkins, pilot Luke Delaney, and mission specialists Joshua Kutryk and Serguéi Teteriátnikov. Watkins will become the first NASA astronaut to fly twice on a Dragon spacecraft.

Looking ahead, NASA has also announced the crew for the Crew-14 mission, targeted for launch no earlier than spring 2027. This international crew will consist of NASA astronauts Kayla Barron (commander) and Chris Birch (pilot), JAXA astronaut Makoto Suwa, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Arutyun Kiviryan. The mission will focus on scientific research and technology demonstrations to support future human exploration of the Moon and Mars.
