NASA Announces ROSES‑25 Amendment 68 for Habitable Worlds Observatory Precursor Science

NASA has released ROSES‑25 Amendment 68, establishing a new D.8 opportunity for Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) Precursor Science Investigations. The HWO is a large‑aperture ultraviolet/visible/near‑infrared space telescope concept, recommended by the National Academies’ Astro2020 decadal survey, intended to search for life beyond the solar system and enable transformative astrophysics research.

The amendment opens the HWO‑PSI program to the research community, with mandatory Notices of Intent due by 10 September 2026 and full proposals due by 26 October 2026. Submissions will undergo dual anonymous peer review. Inquiries are directed to Megan Ansdell (Megan.C.Ansdell@nasa.gov). The solicitation will be posted on the NASA Research Opportunities website and the SARA ROSES blog in late July 2026.
