NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day highlights comet Tempel 2 and solar eclipses

NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day features recent telescopic captures of celestial phenomena. One image depicts periodic comet 10P/Tempel 2 appearing near the globular star cluster Messier 30 (M30). While the comet's dust trail appears to pierce the cluster in the frame, the two objects are separated by vast distances: Tempel 2 is 3.5 light-minutes away, whereas Messier 30 is approximately 28,000 light-years distant.

Another feature highlights a solar eclipse observed from the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Arizona. The presentation also notes an upcoming solar eclipse expected to be visible across northern North America, Europe, and northwestern Africa, with a total solar eclipse path crossing Greenland and Spain.
