NASA awards SpaceX $946 million extension for ISS flights

NASA has awarded SpaceX a $946 million contract extension to conduct three additional crewed missions to the International Space Station (ISS) through 2030. This modification covers the Crew-15, Crew-16, and Crew-17 missions, as well as essential support services including ground operations, launch, in-orbit operations, and emergency lifeboat duties.

This extension brings SpaceX’s total missions under the Commercial Crew contract to 17, increasing the overall contract value to $5.92 billion. The Crew-14 mission, scheduled for no earlier than spring 2027, is set to carry NASA astronauts Kayla Barron and Chris Birch, alongside JAXA astronaut Makoto Suwa and Roscosmos cosmonaut Arutyun Kiviryan. The crew will participate in Expedition 75/76, performing scientific studies and technological tests intended to prepare for future human spaceflight to the Moon and Mars.
