NASA awards SpaceX $946 million for three additional space station missions

NASA has awarded SpaceX a $946 million contract modification to conduct three additional crewed missions to the International Space Station. These missions, designated Crew-15, Crew-16, and Crew-17, are part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap) program.

The firm-fixed-price contract covers launch, ground, in-orbit, and return and recovery operations, as well as cargo transportation and lifeboat services while the Dragon spacecraft remains docked at the station. This modification brings the total number of SpaceX CCtCap missions to 17 and increases the overall contract value with the company to $5.92 billion.

The period of performance for these missions extends through 2030, with mission readiness dates anticipated in 2027 and 2028. SpaceX will utilize its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft to transport up to four astronauts per flight. NASA has not yet announced the specific astronaut crews or exact launch dates.
