NASA invites public to send names to Saturn’s moon Titan
NASA is inviting the public to participate in its Dragonfly mission by submitting names to be included on a microchip aboard the spacecraft. Participants will receive a personalized digital boarding pass to commemorate their involvement in the mission to Saturn’s largest moon, Titan.
The Dragonfly rotorcraft is currently being assembled at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Maryland. Scheduled for launch in 2028, the mission aims to explore Titan’s unique environment, which features a dense atmosphere and liquid methane lakes, to search for signs of habitability and clues regarding pre-biotic chemistry.
Upon arrival in 2034, the spacecraft will fly over various locations on the moon to investigate its organic-rich landscape. The deadline for name submissions is January 15, 2027.
