NASA Orion spacecraft completes successful Artemis II crewed test flight

NASA’s Artemis II mission successfully completed its first crewed test flight, marking the first time humans have traveled toward the Moon since the Apollo era. The mission utilized the Space Launch System rocket from the Kennedy Space Center to propel the Orion spacecraft into orbit.

The mission served as a critical test of Orion’s life support systems, which were required to sustain a crew of four—Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch of NASA, and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency—during a ten-day journey around the Moon. Despite minor anomalies, including issues with the onboard toilets, the spacecraft successfully demonstrated deep space operations, life support functionality, and manual proximity operations.
