NASA plans three August ISS spacewalks to upgrade solar arrays and replace antenna

NASA announced three United States‑led spacewalks on the International Space Station scheduled for Aug. 6, Aug. 13 and Aug. 25. Astronauts Jessica Meir and Anil Menon will conduct the EVAs. The first walk will install hardware to modify the station’s 3B power channel in preparation for the future International Space Station Roll‑Out Solar Array (IROSA). The second walk will replace a critical Space‑to‑Ground communications antenna, and the third will connect power‑channel cables, data‑relay systems and replace a navigational aid on the Harmony module.

The operations are intended to upgrade the station’s power capability, support ongoing maintenance and ready the ISS for its eventual controlled deorbit. NASA will host a preview news conference on July 30 and stream the spacewalks live across its platforms.
