NASA ramps up launches for Roman Space Telescope, Crew‑13 and Artemis 3 mission

NASA opened media accreditation for two upcoming space events. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, set to launch on 30 August on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy from Kennedy Space Center, will conduct deep surveys of dark matter, dark energy, exoplanets and distant galaxies. The Crew‑13 mission, scheduled for mid‑September, will fly astronauts from the United States, Canada and a Roscosmos cosmonaut aboard a Falcon 9 Dragon to the International Space Station.

In parallel, NASA announced accelerated work on the Artemis 3 lunar‑orbit mission. At Kennedy Space Center, the core stage of the Space Launch System has been integrated with RS‑25 engines, solid rocket booster segments are being stacked, and the Orion spacecraft’s updated thermal shield and service module are undergoing acoustic and other tests. Artemis 3 remains targeted for a 2027 launch, aiming to send four astronauts to low‑Earth orbit as a step toward a permanent lunar presence.
