NASA releases 800 GB of Artemis II lunar mission data

At the 77th International Astronautical Congress in Antalya, NASA released over 800 gigabytes of scientific data collected during the Artemis II lunar mission. The data archive includes more than 11,000 high-resolution images and videos, 8.5 hours of audio recordings of astronaut observations, and detailed scientific notes.

NASA officials, including Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson, stated that the release marks a new beginning for lunar science, providing unique insights into the 4-billion-year co-evolution of the Moon and Earth. The data aims to support upcoming missions, such as Artemis III, by testing the Orion spacecraft in deep space and studying the effects of the space environment on the human body.

During the congress, international astronauts also participated in press conferences. Turkish astronauts Alper Gezeravcı and Tuva Cihangir Atasever discussed Turkey's space vision, emphasizing a focus on lunar research programs and the importance of maintaining space as a peaceful, collaborative domain rather than a military platform.
