NASA showcases Halloween celebrations on the International Space Station

NASA has released a collection of photographs documenting how astronauts celebrate Halloween aboard the International Space Station. Despite the lack of traditional elements like doors or trick-or-treating children, crews have maintained the tradition by creating costumes from available onboard materials, such as tape, bags, and containers.

The gallery highlights various expeditions over the years. Notable examples include Clayton C. Anderson dressing as a vampire during Expedition 16, and Nicole P. Stott wearing an oversized orange skirt during Expedition 21. During Expedition 57, Sergei Prokopyev dressed as Elvis Presley, Alexander Gerst appeared as Darth Vader, and Serena Auñón-Chancellor wore a scientist outfit.

More recent celebrations, such as Expedition 68 in 2022, involved astronauts using cargo containers as part of their costumes and creating makeshift bags for trick-or-treating while orbiting Earth at 28,000 kilometers per hour.
