SpaceX launches Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station

NASA and SpaceX successfully launched the Crew-13 mission from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on October 1, 2026. The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carried the Crew Dragon spacecraft, named Grace, toward the International Space Station (ISS) for a planned six-month science expedition.

The four-person international crew includes NASA Commander Jessica Watkins, NASA Pilot Luke Delaney, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov. This mission is notable for being the fastest launch-to-docking trip in the history of the ISS, with an estimated travel time of approximately seven hours and 50 minutes.

The launch had previously been delayed for several weeks following the detection of an oxidizer leak in the Dragon spacecraft's propulsion system. The crew will conduct various scientific experiments, including biomedical research on the effects of microgravity, to support future human exploration of the Moon and Mars.
