NASA telescopes unveil massive star cluster image and Roman mission

The Hubble Space Telescope released a striking new image of the globular cluster Messier 3, showing more than 500,000 stars in red, white and blue hues. The picture highlights the cluster’s unusually large population of RR Lyrae variable stars and blue‑straggler stars, offering astronomers a detailed view of the Milky Way’s ancient stellar history.

NASA also announced the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, a next‑generation observatory with a 2.4‑metre mirror comparable to Hubble’s but equipped with a vastly wider field of view and a 300‑megapixel camera. The Roman mission is expected to discover roughly 100,000 exoplanets using transit and microlensing techniques and to generate up to 20 petabytes of data over its five‑year primary survey.
