NASA to close Moffett Field hammer throwing training site

NASA is closing a hammer throwing training site at Moffett Field in Mountain View, scheduled for demolition following an August 14 deadline for athletes to remove personal equipment. The site, located near U.S. Highway 101, has served as a public training area for hundreds of athletes for approximately three decades.

A NASA spokesperson stated that the area has been identified for future development activities related to the NASA Research Park. The agency noted that individuals storing property at the site are not official tenants and do not have agreements to utilize the property. While the structures must be removed, the specific nature of the upcoming redevelopment remains unclear.
