Nasarawa building collapse kills child and injures three

A 30-year-old mud house collapsed in the Tudun Amba area of Lafia, Nasarawa State, resulting in the death of a four-year-old girl and injuries to three others. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, following rainfall in the community.

The two-room structure was occupied by six people from two families. While one group of occupants sustained non-severe injuries, a two-year-old girl was critically injured and referred from the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, to the University of Jos Teaching Hospital for specialized treatment. The deceased child has been buried.

Eyewitnesses attributed the collapse to long-term environmental issues, specifically flooding and erosion that have affected the area for approximately 12 years. Residents have reportedly called for government intervention to address these ongoing environmental challenges.
