Nasarawa State Assembly calls for urgent action against kidnappings

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has raised an alarm regarding a resurgence of kidnapping incidents across the state, particularly within the Lafia Central constituency. Lawmaker Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki reported that recent abductions in Agyaragu Lafia and Agunji Lafia have left constituents living in fear, noting that kidnappers are currently demanding ransoms for victims.

In response, Speaker Dr. Danladi Jatau directed the House Clerk to communicate a resolution to Governor Abdullahi Sule. The resolution urges the governor to instruct security agencies, including the Commissioner of Police, the DSS, and the NSCDC, to increase surveillance across the state. Additionally, the House called for collaboration between traditional leaders, village heads, and vigilantes to identify suspicious individuals within their communities to help curtail the insecurity.
