Nasarawa State officials address staffing shortages at General Hospital

The Nasarawa State Government and the State House of Assembly are taking steps to address critical staffing and infrastructural shortages at the General Hospital in Nasarawa Local Government Area. The actions follow public concerns raised via social media regarding inadequate medical personnel at the facility.

Health Commissioner Dr. Gwamna Gaza announced that Governor Abdullahi Sule has directed the Ministry of Health to investigate the situation and implement solutions to improve the welfare of health workers, aiming to attract and retain qualified staff. The Commissioner noted that while patient turnout can fluctuate, measures are being taken to prevent recurrences of poor staffing judgment during peak times.

Simultaneously, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly passed a resolution urging the deployment of sufficient doctors and nurses to the hospital. Speaker Danladi Jatau emphasized the need for the state to provide necessary facilities to all general hospitals to improve grassroots healthcare access.
