NASA's Roman Space Telescope Launch Set for Aug 30 2026 on SpaceX Falcon Heavy

NASA has moved up the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope to 30 August 2026, eight months earlier than originally planned. The telescope, whose field of view is about 100 times larger than Hubble’s, will be placed at the Sun‑Earth L2 Lagrange point to study dark matter, exoplanet frequency and other cosmic phenomena.

The payload, weighing roughly 10 tonnes, will be launched on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy from Kennedy Space Center’s pad 39A in Florida. After final inspections and transport from Goddard to Kennedy, the rocket will be fueled and stacked, with the exact date subject to weather conditions.
