NASCAR community mourns Kyle Busch as wife Samantha shares tribute

Kyle Busch, the two‑time NASCAR Cup Series champion, died on May 21 at age 41 after complications from bacterial pneumonia that progressed to sepsis. The loss prompted an outpouring of grief from fans, drivers and NASCAR officials.

On June 5, his wife Samantha Busch posted her first public message on Instagram, accompanied by a family photo featuring Kyle, their son Brexton (11) and daughter Lennix (4). She thanked supporters for prayers, messages, flowers, meals and countless acts of kindness, noting the comfort they provided during a “heartbreaking” period. Samantha expressed gratitude for the love shown to Kyle and highlighted the impact he had on the racing community.

NASCAR released a statement describing Busch as a future Hall of Famer, citing his record‑setting 102 wins in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, 69 Truck Series victories and 63 Cup Series race wins, along with his two championships in 2015 and 2019. The organization mourned his passing and extended its thoughts to his family, teammates and fans.
