NASCAR runs Michael Annett tribute paint scheme at Iowa Speedway

JR Motorsports driver Sammy Smith will compete in a special tribute paint scheme at the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race on August 8 at Iowa Speedway. The livery replicates Michael Annett’s 2017 Pilot Flying J design and features his signature shamrock, honoring the former JRM driver who died in December 2025 at age 39.

Team co‑owner Kelley Earnhardt posted a brief “We miss you Michael” message, while Smith said Annett “meant so much to me personally” and that the tribute reflects the close bond between their families. The homage highlights Annett’s impact on the team, including his 2019 Daytona opener win and multiple playoff appearances, and will be run on the track in his home state of Iowa.
