NASCAR star Kyle Busch dies at 41 after severe lung infection
Kyle Busch, the 41‑year‑old two‑time NASCAR Cup Series champion and prominent figure in American motorsport, died on Thursday. His family, NASCAR and his team released statements confirming his death. A medical evaluation concluded that a severe lung infection progressed to sepsis, causing rapid and overwhelming complications.
Busch had been hospitalized after feeling ill during a simulator session in Concord, North Carolina. He had been preparing for the upcoming Coca‑Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and had raced earlier in the week, winning a Craftsman Truck Series event at Dover. Earlier in the month he had reported sinus issues and required medical attention after a race at Watkins Glen.
The family requested privacy during this difficult period. Busch leaves his wife Samantha and two children, Brexton and Lennix.
