NASCAR teams face contrasting fortunes in 2026 season
Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick has addressed the organization’s challenging 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season. Facing difficulties following the introduction of Chevrolet’s updated Camaro body design and driver roster absences, the team has secured only two victories through the first two-thirds of the season. Hendrick expressed determination, stating that the team is working harder than ever and emphasizing a culture of unity rather than finger-pointing.
In contrast, Team Penske has experienced a recent surge in performance. Crew chief Brian Wilson attributed the team’s improved results to the racing schedule returning to short tracks. While the team struggled during the summer stretch on road courses and intermediate tracks, recent victories by Joey Logano and consistent performances from Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric highlight their strength on shorter circuits.
