NASCAR to focus on North American points races for the near future

NASCAR leadership has indicated that points-paying races for its three national series are unlikely to move outside of North America in the near future. COO Ben Kennedy cited logistical challenges and a tight schedule as primary reasons for maintaining a focus on the United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, Kennedy noted that exhibition events, such as the Clash, offer more flexibility for potential future races in locations like Europe or Brazil.

As the sport evolves, former four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon addressed the tension between traditional racing roots and modern expansion. Gordon suggested that the organization must balance honoring its core fan base with the need to attract younger audiences through new venues, streaming services, and diverse markets. He cited the 2026 event at Naval Base Coronado as a successful example of entering a new market while maintaining cultural relevance.
