Nashik earthquake and tremors cause house damage in Maharashtra

A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck Nashik, Maharashtra, on Saturday night, followed by a 3.3-magnitude tremor early Sunday morning. The seismic activity was recorded at a depth of 5 km in the Bhanwad area, near the Hatgad mountain range.

The tremors triggered panic across several talukas, including Nashik city, Surgana, Kalwan, Dewla, Chandwad, Peth, Dindori, and Niphad. While no casualties or loss of life were reported, cracks were observed in the walls of houses in Bhadar (Surgana taluka) and Nanashi (Dindori taluka).

District administration officials conducted inspections of local dams and found no damage. District Collector Ayush Prasad advised residents to remain alert and take safety precautions but urged them not to believe rumors. This activity follows previous tremors recorded in the district between July 25 and August 6.
