Nashville man arrested for leaving infant in running vehicle
A 25-year-old man, Jordan Hayley, has been arrested in Nashville after police found his 4-month-old daughter abandoned in a running vehicle. The incident occurred in the downtown Broadway area, a district noted by authorities for high levels of intoxicated and disorderly activity.
According to a Metro Nashville Police Department affidavit, officers responded to an argument outside a local bar. A woman informed officers that Hayley was supposed to be caring for the infant and expressed concern for the child's welfare. While Hayley claimed the child was with another relative, police located the infant in the front seat of his running car, noting that the car seat was facing the incorrect direction.
Hayley faces a felony charge of child neglect of a child aged 8 or younger, as well as a misdemeanor charge for leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle. He was released on bond, and the child was returned to her mother's care. A court hearing is scheduled for Friday, October 23.
