Nashville Predators defeat Montreal Canadiens and acquire Jayden Struble

The Nashville Predators defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-2 following a comeback from a 2-0 deficit. Roman Josi contributed two assists, including the setup for Ryan O’Reilly’s go-ahead goal in the third period. Nashville’s comeback was fueled by goals from Alexander Kerfoot and Matthew Wood, while Adam Edstrom added empty-net insurance.

In related roster moves, the Montreal Canadiens traded defenseman Jayden Struble to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2027 second-round draft pick. The trade, which involves a pick originally owned by the Vegas Golden Knights, is seen as a way for Montreal to manage a crowded defensive lineup as players like Kaiden Guhle approach a return to the lineup.

Despite the loss, Montreal’s coaching staff noted positive tactical developments, specifically regarding a new forward line featuring Alex Newhook, Josh Anderson, and Chris Kreider, which demonstrated strong offensive zone control and puck retrieval.
