Nasir El‑Rufai denied bail, remains in ICPC custody

A Kaduna State High Court rejected former governor Nasir El‑Rufai's bail application, ordering that he continue to be detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) while his trial proceeds. Justice Dirisu Khobo found the bail request lacked sufficient evidence and did not meet legal criteria.

The judge also directed the ICPC to allow El‑Rufai unrestricted access to any medical facility of his choice in Nigeria. The case, involving nine counts of alleged abuse of office and procurement violations from his 2015‑2023 tenure, was adjourned to July 7‑8 for further hearing.
