Nasry Asfura to convene Council of Ministers for 2027 budget review

Honduran President Nasry Asfura has announced he will convene an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers to review the preliminary draft of the 2027 General Budget. The government aims to meet the constitutional deadline of submitting the budget proposal to the National Congress before September 15.

The proposed budget is estimated to be approximately 457 billion lempiras. According to the Ministry of Finance, the draft is in its final stages and has already received approval from the Economic Cabinet. The administration intends to focus on fiscal sustainability, deficit control, and the orderly management of public finances.

Key priority areas for the distribution of resources include infrastructure, health, education, and social assistance programs. The executive branch seeks to implement a spending plan that balances strategic development with fiscal responsibility and debt management.
