Nassau County officials host backpack giveaway in Glen Cove

Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton partnered with the Nassau County and Glen Cove Police Benevolent Associations to host a backpack giveaway at Landing Elementary School in Glen Cove. The event provided 500 backpacks filled with school supplies to students of all ages.

This initiative, which has been a collaboration for seven years, was moved from Glen Cove High School to the elementary school to increase accessibility for residents in more heavily populated areas. In addition to the school event, supplies were provided to the Glen Cove Youth Bureau and the Crime Victims Center. Organizers noted that the event aims to save families money while fostering positive relationships between young people and local law enforcement in a relaxed setting.
