Nasser Bourita calls for conflict prevention at African Union session

During the 26th extraordinary session of the African Union Executive Council in Luanda, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, emphasized the necessity of placing prevention at the core of African peace and security efforts.

Bourita advocated for addressing the root causes of conflicts by strengthening the link between peace, security, and development. He called for increased investment in factors that foster sustainable peace and stressed that the implementation of the Luanda Action Plan requires enhanced coordination between the African Union and the United Nations.

Morocco expressed its full support for the objectives of the session, which aims to strengthen the African Peace and Security Architecture. Bourita also noted that financing mechanisms must respect the African Union’s budgetary procedures and established protocols.
