Nasuh Mahruki Held in Overcrowded Silivri Prison Cell
Former AKUT president Nasuh Mahruki was detained after posting on the anniversary of the 15 July coup attempt, a message for which Turkish prosecutors charged him with inciting hatred or enmity. He has been in Silivri Marmara Prison for about ten days. According to his wife Mine Mahruki, he is housed in a cell designed for 48 inmates but currently holds 54 prisoners. Mine Mahruki met him in a closed visiting session and posted on Instagram that his health, morale and motivation are stable, and that he is adapting to the prison conditions. She expressed gratitude to supporters and called for a swift, fair legal resolution.
