Natabeafh to release long-lost rock music after 40 years

The rock band Natabeafh is set to release four musical compositions on streaming platforms and social media on Friday, August 14. This release marks the first time the band’s music has been made public after more than 40 years.

Natabeafh gained recognition around 1979 and 1980 when they won third place in the First Rock Contest of El Chopo, an event promoted by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and held at the Museo Universitario del Chopo. The contest featured over 70 groups. Writer Juan Villoro, who served on the jury, previously described the band as a revelation of the Mexican rock scene, noting they were referred to as the ‘Frank Zappa of Mexico’ during his time at Radio Educación.

The recovery and preservation of the band's music is credited to Jorge Francisco Ugalde García and Moisés Ugalde.
