Natacha Polony announces 2027 French presidential candidacy

Journalist and essayist Natacha Polony has officially announced her candidacy for the 2027 French presidential election. Speaking on France Inter, the 51-year-old former editor-in-chief of Marianne stated that her decision was driven by a sense of necessity to address what she describes as a state of “chaos” in France.

Running under her movement “Nous sommes la France,” which she claims already has 60,000 members, Polony aims to represent “political orphans” who feel disconnected from traditional parties. Her platform is centered on a form of republican sovereignty, emphasizing national independence, economic, energetic, and food sovereignty, and a strong focus on reindustrialization to bolster the state's finances and social model.

Polony’s political stance seeks to transcend traditional left-right divides, though she criticized the current administration under Emmanuel Macron, citing “impotence, illegibility, irresponsibility, and incapacity to think.” She advocates for domestic production to ensure the nation remains free to fund essential services like schools and hospitals.
