Natal authorities penalize beach vendors in Ponta Negra

The Natal Municipal Secretariat of Environment and Urbanism (Semurb) issued fines to two permit holders at Ponta Negra beach for violating sand strip occupation rules. During a Saturday inspection, officials found tables, chairs, and umbrellas placed within the mandatory seven-meter setback from the shoreline. The operators reportedly failed to comply with instructions to reposition their equipment.

The operation, supported by the Natal Municipal Guard’s Environmental Action Group (GAAM/GMN), also addressed unauthorized camping. One large, unoccupied tent was seized after the owner could not be located.

Additionally, Semurb conducted inspections of commercial establishments following noise pollution complaints. In the Nova Descoberta neighborhood, a business was fined for continuing live music despite a prior ban on amplified sound and for failing to present a valid operating license. In Ponta Negra, a bar was also notified regarding sound equipment usage.
