Natal (Brazil) modifies bus routes and exclusive lane amid event and drainage works

The Municipal Mobility Secretariat (STTU) announced that bus line N‑25 will be rerouted on Saturday, 11 July, because the Mulekes em Casa event will close Rua Tomé de Souza in the Nordeste neighbourhood. Buses heading to Bairro Nordeste will detour via Alto da Boa Vista, Mira Torres, Jandira, Dr. Mário Negócio, the Viaduto da Urbana, Avenida Nevaldo Rocha and Rua dos Pegas, while service toward Redinha remains unchanged. STTU urged passengers to plan travel in advance and monitor updates.

Separately, the STTU began discussions with state traffic, road, police and transport union officials about improving the exclusive bus lane on Avenida Roberto Freire. Proposals include new lane‑specific signage, stronger enforcement and longer‑term structural upgrades, with studies already commissioned by the state road department.

In Natal’s western zone, ongoing drainage works have forced temporary changes to traffic flow and bus itineraries, prompting additional route adjustments for public transport while the works continue.
