Natal house fire destroys home, kills three cats

A fire broke out on Thursday night in a residence on Rua Maria de Fátima da Costa in the Redinha neighbourhood of Natal, Brazil. The blaze spread quickly, damaging bedrooms, the living room, the garage and completely destroying a motorcycle. Three cats that were inside the house were found dead. The Corpo de Bombeiros Militar do Rio Grande do Norte dispatched three fire engines and fought the flames for several hours. Residents said the fire may have started from a short‑circuit in a cellphone charger, but the cause has not been confirmed.

The fire was brought under control after firefighters used water from a nearby club’s pool and from flooded street pits. The incident is under investigation by the fire department.
