Law enforcement agencies across Brazil have conducted several operations targeting drug trafficking, resulting in significant seizures and arrests.
In Rio de Janeiro, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized approximately 232 kilograms of marijuana in Barra Mansa following a high-speed chase on the Via Dutra. The driver abandoned a Fiat Uno after it overturned into a drainage ditch during the pursuit and managed to escape into the surrounding brush.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, a driver was placed under preventive detention by Federal Court after being caught transporting 3.4 tons of marijuana hidden under tire residue on the BR-060 highway. The investigation is examining potential international trafficking links involving the Paraguayan border.
Other notable seizures include 40 kilograms of cocaine found in a hidden compartment of a truck in Maranhão after a driver fled a police stop, and approximately 8 kilograms of marijuana along with crack and cocaine in Ponta Grossa, Paraná. In Araçatuba, São Paulo, police arrested a man and detained a teenager after finding cocaine, hashish, and a marijuana plant at a residence.
