Natal robbery leaves young man dead and mother injured

A robbery at a small market in the Lagoa Azul neighborhood, North Zone of Natal, resulted in the death of 21-year-old William Gomes da Silva on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when two suspects, a man and a woman, arrived on a motorcycle and began stealing food items.

During the robbery, the shop owner and others attempted to intervene, causing the suspects to fall from their motorcycle. In the ensuing confrontation, shots were fired, striking William. His mother, Valdenicy Bezerra da Silva, was also injured during the incident after being stabbed in the arm.

Following the shooting, the male suspect fled through residential rooftops but was later located and arrested by the 4th Military Police Battalion. The female suspect was intercepted and assaulted by local residents before being taken into custody. Both suspects were identified by authorities, and the motorcycle used in the crime was seized. The weapon used in the robbery has not yet been recovered.
