Natalia Albarez Gómez confirmed as UNLaR rector by court

The Federal Court of Appeals of Córdoba has issued a definitive ruling confirming Natalia Albarez Gómez as the rector of the Universidad Nacional de La Rioja (UNLaR). The court's decision settles a legal dispute that began in 2024, effectively ending challenges brought by the opposition group ‘Universitarios Unidos’.

Opposition leaders, including Antonio Nicolás Brizuela, Natacha Minué Belber, and Alejandro Álvarez, had questioned the officialization of her candidacy. However, the judges ruled that the electoral process had formally concluded, the authorities were duly proclaimed, and the rector was already actively exercising her institutional functions. This unanimous decision leaves no further room for legal appeals, consolidating Albarez Gómez’s leadership of the university.
