Natalia Morera wins two medals at Pan American weightlifting championship

Costa Rican weightlifter Natalia Morera has secured two medals at the Pan American Championship held in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico. The 20-year-old athlete from San Ramón earned a silver medal in the 58-kilogram youth division and a bronze medal in the senior category.

The competition, which features approximately 300 athletes from 22 countries, serves as a continental qualifier for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. Morera’s performance marks a significant improvement from her fifth-place finish at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games.

Morera attributed her success to a comprehensive support system, including nutritionists, psychologists, and her coach. This achievement follows a strong start to the 2026 season, where she won three gold medals at the National Sports Games and set a national record with a 100-kilogram clean and jerk.
