Cuauhtémoc Blanco denies reports of wife's detention in New York
Mexican federal deputy and former governor of Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo, has denied media reports claiming his wife, Natalia Rezende Moreira, was detained at a New York airport.
Reports from the magazine Proceso, citing political sources, alleged that Rezende was intercepted approximately two weeks ago for transporting a large sum of undeclared cash. According to these versions, the funds were intended as a donation to a Christian church. The reports suggested that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) determined she was not admissible at that time, leading to her return to Mexico and a potential revocation of her U.S. visa.
Blanco has dismissed the allegations as a political offensive and an “invention,” stating that his wife is currently at home in Morelos with their children. He emphasized that transporting large sums of money is not illegal provided it is declared to authorities. As of now, no official documentation from U.S. authorities has been released to confirm a formal detention, the specific amount of cash involved, or the status of her visa.
