Natalia Silva captured the vacant UFC flyweight title by defeating Cong Wang via unanimous decision at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City. The victory extends Silva’s overall winning streak to 15 fights and improves her UFC record to 9-0.

Former champion Valentina Shevchenko, who vacated the title earlier this year due to injuries, congratulated Silva on social media but issued a warning that she intends to reclaim the belt. Silva expressed her excitement about joining the elite group of UFC champions and indicated she does not intend to wait for Shevchenko’s return before moving forward with her next title defense, mentioning Alexa Grasso as a potential challenger.

Silva noted that her preparation included altitude training in Mexico and revealed that she considered deviating from her corner’s strategy to engage in more direct striking during the final rounds of the championship bout.
